Good morning! Today is Tuesday, March 6, 2025. Aaron Cordeiro here, and it’s a privilege to spend this time in God’s Word with you. There’s a natural tendency we all share—the temptation to let our guard down when we think no one is watching. It’s easy to drift, to compromise, to grow complacent. But Jesus gives us a clear warning: Stay ready. Stay alert. We may not know the day or hour of His return, but we do know this—He is coming again. The question is, are we living like it?
Today's Reading:
Deuteronomy 3,4; Psalms 36; Mark 13
Scripture
“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come." (Mark 13:32-33)
Observation
There’s a Latin proverb that says, “Dum felis dormit, mus gaudet et exsi litantro”—"When the cat sleeps, the mouse rejoices and leaves its hole." Many songs echo this truth, highlighting our tendency to misbehave when authority isn’t watching.
Though we don’t know when Jesus will return, we do know He is coming again. The lesson? Live as if He’s coming back today. Staying on guard and alert isn’t about fear—it’s about readiness. It’s an active, not passive, posture—a daily practice of trusting and obeying God, even when He feels distant or unseen.
Application
When my parents used to leave my sisters and me at home to go on a date (once we were old enough, of course), they would give us a list of responsibilities—finish homework, do the dishes, no fighting. But as soon as their car disappeared down the street, we'd shout: “They’re gone! PARTY TIME!”
TV on, board games out, junk food everywhere—we completely forgot about our chores. All too soon, the rumble of their car in the driveway sent us into a panic. Like frantic mice, we tried to cram thirty minutes of work into three. But it was too late.
How often do we do the same with God? When we don’t see immediate answers—no promotion, no breakthrough, no change—we grow impatient, complain, or check out. We distract ourselves with the pleasures of the world and delay our obedience, assuming we have plenty of time.
But we don’t know when Jesus will return, so we must wait well. The best way to live is with the expectation that He could come at any moment. Stay watchful, faithful, and ready—so when we hear the rumble of His coming, we won’t scramble in fear but rejoice in His arrival.
Prayer
Dear Lord, If You say You’ll show up… You’ll show up. You are always present, even when I don’t see or feel it. Help me to trust in Your timing, to wait well, and to live each day as if You could return at any moment. May my life reflect the certainty of Your coming, so that when You do, I will be ready to welcome You with joy. Amen.
