Happy Monday! It’s June 16th, 2025—a new week begins. But before we jump into the whirlwind of tasks, let’s pause. Today feels like a gentle nudge from heaven to remember what it was like when you first met Jesus. But what do you do when that joy starts to slip through your fingers? Read on …
Today's Reading:
1 Kings 17,18,19; Colossians 2
Scripture
“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him—rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” (Col. 2:6-7)
Observation
When we first came to Christ, it was like springtime for the soul. Everything felt new and full of promise. We couldn’t get enough—church, the Word, fellowship, worship—it was fuel for our hearts.
But then… life.
The rhythm of routine, the hum of demands—and what once thrilled us becomes familiar… even dull. The outer expressions linger, but the inner fire begins to flicker. It’s not that we’ve walked away. It’s just that sometimes the heart forgets what the soul once knew.
Application
Here’s what I’ve learned: I have to build my own “inspiration package.” I can’t wait for the perfect conference or the right song. Renewing my soul is my responsibility. For me, it starts with showing up for daily devotions each morning—even when my heart’s not in it. Sometimes it’s just sheer discipline. But I’ve found that, without fail, duty gives birth to delight.
Then, I pour myself into our church gatherings. I don’t just attend—I engage. I absorb. I worship with everything I’ve got. I don’t sing to the ceiling—I sing to the Savior.
Remember David? He was under attack and threatened by his own men. Yet 1 Samuel 30:6 says, “But David encouraged himself in the Lord.” Sometimes no one else is going to do it for you. That’s when we have to learn the art of building our own inspiration package.
Prayer
Lord, teach me how to encourage myself in You. Like David, may I find strength in the secret place—even when everything around me feels like it’s unraveling. Help me not to rely on external sparks, but to kindle the fire within through Your Word, worship, and wholehearted devotion. Bring me back to the joy I knew at first, so I may live rooted, built up, and overflowing with thankfulness.
