Take That to the Bank

by Aaron Cordeiro on June 26, 2025

Good morning—today is June 26, 2025. Have you ever heard the saying, “You can take that to the bank”? It means something is reliable—rock solid. Just like depositing money at a bank, you trust it will be there. But more secure than money in the bank, the Apostle Paul offers what he calls a “trustworthy saying.” Let’s add this truth to our spiritual bank account. Let’s check it out…

Today's Reading:
Jonah 1,2,3,4; 2 Timothy 2

Scripture

“Here is a trustworthy saying:

If we died with Him, we will also live with Him;

if we endure, we will also reign with Him.

If we disown Him, He will also disown us;

if we are faithless, He remains faithful,

for He cannot disown Himself.”

(2 Timothy 2:11-13)

Observation

Paul calls this a trustworthy saying—a spiritual truth believers can count on. He writes this while in prison, facing imminent death. Yet his words aren’t fearful; they’re faith-filled. He’s encouraging Timothy (and us) to place confidence not in circumstances, but in God’s unchanging nature.

What’s the message? In short:

  • God is faithful—even when we’re not.

  • There’s a huge difference between being with God and being without Him.

Paul emphasizes that God will not deny Himself—meaning He remains true to His character, His promises, and His people. In order to move our lives to what God is blessing, it will require us to let go of things that are un-blessable (I made up a new word). Take that to the bank!

Application

To be with God means we need to walk away from ungodliness. God isn't in the business of disowning people—He’s unchanging, the same yesterday, today, and forever. If there’s any disconnection, it's not on His end, but ours.

Rather than asking God to bless what we're doing, we should ask, “Lord, what are You already blessing—and how can I align my life with that?”

Prayer

Dear Lord, You are trustworthy, faithful, and true—even when we are weak, wandering, or faithless. Thank You for not giving up on us. You made Your choice over 2,000 years ago when You gave Your life for us. Today, we choose You back. Amen.
