Good morning! Today is June 24th, 2025. “Don’t worry about it—I trust you.” Have you ever heard those words? Maybe it was, “Pay me later,” “Take it for a test drive,” or “Here’s some money for supplies—bring back the change.” If you’ve never had that kind of trust placed in you, maybe it’s time to start building the kind of character that earns it. Let’s explore how.
Today's Reading:
22 Kings 11,12; 2 Chronicles 24; 1 Timothy 6
Scripture
“They did not require an accounting from those to whom they gave the money to pay the workers, because they acted with complete honesty.” (2 Kings 12:15)
Observation
Joash became king of Judah at a very young age and was known for his passion to restore the Lord’s temple, which had fallen into disrepair. The temple represented God’s presence and the identity of His people, so its broken condition mirrored the spiritual state of the nation. Joash created a system to collect funds from the people for the temple repair and entrusted the money to overseers for the restoration work.
Here’s the powerful part: the workers were so trustworthy, they didn’t even need to be audited. Why? Because they acted with complete honesty.
What cultivates that kind of integrity? Honesty. Consistency. Fruit over time.
Are you known for that kind of trustworthiness? If not, what small compromises might need to be shored up?
Application
Integrity is a character trait—it affects every part of your life. You can’t be honest in some areas and not in others; eventually, the truth shows. Start small: be faithful with your words, your time, and your money. Over time, honesty builds trust—and trust opens doors.
Ask yourself today: “Am I building a reputation that others can trust without second-guessing?”
Kind of like going into a store to return something without a receipt… and the clerk accepts it—because they know your name and they know your character.
Prayer
Lord, help me live with integrity in every part of my life. Make me trustworthy in the small things so I can be trusted with more. Let my actions speak louder than my words, and may my life reflect Your truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
