The Anointing

by Wayne Cordeiro on October 27, 2025

It’s Monday, Oct. 27, 2025. Fall has fallen, and the air is crisp with change. Jackets are back in rotation, and pumpkin spice is back on the menu. Yet amid all these seasonal shifts, one thing remains steady: God’s wisdom. In an age where “science” is hailed as the supreme authority, we forget that it’s subject to human error and bias. God, however, offers something better: a divine insight that sees beyond what science or business acumen can measure. Read on …

Today's Reading:
Job 18; Psalms 114; Acts 27,28

Scripture

“Paul warned them, ‘Men, I can see that our voyage is going to be disastrous and bring great loss to ship and cargo, and to our own lives also.’ But the centurion, instead of listening to what Paul said, followed the advice of the pilot and of the owner of the ship… Before very long, a wind of hurricane force, called the Northeaster, swept down from the island.” (Acts 27:9–11, 14)

Observation

Two voices spoke that day: one from a sailor and one from the Spirit. The pilot knew the seas; Paul knew the Savior. The centurion trusted the professional, not realizing that the untrained preacher had been tuned to a frequency beyond human charts. Paul was operating under the anointing—a divine revelation that outperformed logic, expertise, and even past experience.

Application

There have been moments in my life when I listened to “the experts” instead of the Holy Spirit. It made sense at the time. The decision seemed obvious, but later I found myself bailing water in a storm I could have avoided. As I look back, I recognize that I had downplayed the anointing for the obvious. I had traded the earthly for the divine.

James 3 draws a clear line between earthly and heavenly wisdom. One is clever but corruptible; the other is pure, peace-loving, merciful, and sincere. Discerning which voice is leading us is crucial. The anointing doesn’t always make sense, but it always reveals the way to God’s favor. When we walk in alignment with God’s purposes, His Spirit gives us insight that transcends talent and training.

It’s not arrogance; it’s obedience.

Prayer

Father, help me tune my heart to heaven’s frequency. When logic and leading collide, teach me to choose Your wisdom over worldly reasoning. Fill me with the anointing that sees beyond what is seen—so I may sail … not by the winds of opinion, but by the winds of Your Spirit.
