Take the Easy Route

by Wayne Cordeiro on March 15, 2024

It is Friday, March 15, 2024. Easter comes early this year ... March 31st. If there’s one thing we know, it is that Jesus Christ was risen from the dead and lives forevermore! That is written, recorded, and verified. Let’s rejoice! There might be many things we don’t yet understand, but there are many that we do! Let’s start with those, for if we cannot be faithful to what we already know, why should God show us things we don’t yet know? So, what are the priorities? Read on …

Today's Reading:

Deuteronomy 28,29; Galatians 6

Scripture

“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law” (Deuteronomy 29:29).

Observation

Does God have secrets? Yes, and we will not be able to comprehend those concealed truths …. Maybe until we get to heaven! These truths are beyond our ability and capacity to understand, such as –

  • Did creation take only six days?
  • Why is there life only on this planet?
  • What sustains the precision of our galaxy?
  • Why do the wicked prosper?

There are more difficulties dangling in question; however, there are thousands of truths He has revealed! Let’s begin there. These are where we start and where we remain faithful, like obeying His commands, keeping pure hearts, loving God with all our hearts, and loving people. These, and many more, revealed truths have been written so we won’t doubt their veracity.

However, we conjecture on things unknown while violating things revealed! We tend to circumvent what He reveals while coming up with odd conclusions about what is hidden.

Application

I think I will take the easy route

I will try to do the things revealed and wait on things hidden (like end-day prophecy, hidden numerical meanings in the Scriptures, the timing of the Second Coming, etc.). I will start with what’s revealed and be faithful there first. I bet those alone will keep me busy until His Second Coming, no matter what the numerical coefficient might be!

Prayer

Father, thank You for laying out the course plainly and simply for me. I will run that race and stay on course. You’ve even given us the presence of Your Holy Spirit to guide and coach us along the way! You give us help, provision, and even scheduled cheering squads along the way for encouragement! Help me to run the race You have set for me and fix my eyes on You all the way.
