Good morning! It’s Monday, October 13th, 2025. What an amazing weekend we just had! Our “Service of Honor” gave us the opportunity to celebrate and pray for those who serve on the front lines — police officers, firefighters, sheriffs, first responders, medical professionals, and government leaders. In a world where “diversity, equity, and inclusion” have become common buzzwords, we often see instead division, disrespect, and dissent. But the Gospel does what no policy can — it unites every nation, tribe, and people under one cause: the cause of Christ.
Today's Reading:
Nehemiah 9,10; Acts 2
Scripture
“Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. Utterly amazed, they asked: ‘Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? …We hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongue!’” (Acts 2:5–11)
Observation
At Pentecost, God gave His disciples a supernatural ability to communicate across every barrier — cultural, linguistic, and national. This miracle of tongues wasn’t about confusion like at Babel, but connection. It was Heaven’s way of saying, “My message is for everyone.”
The result? Over three thousand people were saved because they could finally hear the “mighty deeds of God” in a language they understood. The Holy Spirit still does that today — giving us the grace to speak to others in ways their hearts can understand.
Application
The gift of tongues isn’t just for public power — it’s also for private prayer. It strengthens our spirit, anchoring us in God’s presence so that our public ministry flows from our private intimacy.
The danger comes when we get so busy doing for God that we forget being with Him. The elder brother in the story of the prodigal son worked tirelessly in his father’s fields, but he lost his father’s heart. I can do the same — labor so hard in ministry that my heart grows weary and mechanical. When that happens, it’s a sign I’ve traded private time for public performance. But revival begins in private. If I don’t guard my quiet time with the Father, my public life — no matter how active — will slowly lose its power.
Prayer
Father, renew my heart today. Remind me that time with You is never wasted. Give me rest in my labors and, when needed, rest from them. Let my private time with You fuel everything I do in public. May Your heart always be my first priority — and my greatest joy.
