Happy Thanksgiving! Today is Thursday, November 28th, 2024. What a fitting portion of Scripture as we begin the Book of Thessalonians! Paul encourages us to be thankful for the people God has placed in our lives to serve alongside. Never take these special individuals for granted—they are people-gifts from God, uniquely partnered with you for His purpose. Read on...
Today's Reading:
Matthew 28; 1 Thessalonians 1,2,3
Scripture
“We always thank God for all of you and continually mention you in our prayers. We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Thessalonians 1:2-3)
Observation
-
Their work was produced by faith.
-
Their labor was prompted by love.
- Their endurance was inspired by hope.
Application
You couldn’t ask for better motives than these! Paul highlights three key attributes of the Thessalonians: their work, their labor, and their endurance—three qualities that inspire gratitude and thanksgiving.
On this day, I want to personally thank the hundreds of volunteers, servants, pastors, staff, and board members of New Hope whom we’ve had the honor of partnering with over the years. Whenever God brings one of these people-gifts to mind, I’m reminded anew of how deeply grateful I am. There is no greater reward than the friendships and relationships we’ve built along the way.
It is an unparalleled honor to serve Jesus with each one of you. And if you’re reading this, YOU are one of those people!
Prayer
Father, would You please bless those who have put their hands to the plow and have not looked back? Our best days are still ahead. Together, we look forward to continuing to do Church as a Team until we hear You say, “Well done, My good and faithful servants.”
