DEVOTIONS

Doing daily devotions re-patterns the way we think and transforms the spirit of the mind. As we read and journal the Word of God, we begin to learn the heart and ways of God. Then, when we face situations in life, we begin to respond in the same way that Jesus would.

PASTOR WAYNE EXPLAINS DAILY DEVOTIONS

Daily devotions re-pattern how we think and transform the spirit of the mind. As we read and journal the Word of God, we begin to learn God's heart and ways. Then, when we face situations in life, we begin to respond in the same way that Jesus would.

The Life Journal Daily Devotions method is designed to serve you in your growth with Christ. You can be flexible in how you use it, but be sure to develop a healthy habit of spending time daily with the Lord. Some have asked, "When is the best time for my devotions? In the morning or in the evening?" The answer to that is, "The best time is when you're at your best." If you're a morning person, do your devotions in the morning. If you're an evening person, do your devotions at night. The bottom line is that Jesus deserves your best, so give him the best.

When you read the Bible text, read with an open heart and ask Jesus to reveal Himself, give you words of encouragement, direction, and correction. (See 2 Timothy 3:16) When you have a life lesson from the Scriptures, we encourage you to journal using the S.O.A.P. method explained below, or in Pastor Wayne's linked video.

SCRIPTURE

Open your Bible to the reading for today. Take your time reading and allow God to speak to you. When you are done, look for a verse that particularly spoke to you that day, and write that Scripture in your journal.

OBSERVATION

Examine what God was speaking to through this passage to its original audience. Write what you observe is happening in this Scripture. What does this reveal about God and His character or ways?

APPLICATION

Personalize what you have read by asking yourself how it applies to your life right now. Perhaps it is instruction, encouragement, revelation of a new promise, or corrections for a particular area of your life today.

PRAYER

This can be as simple as asking God to help you use the Scripture, or it may be a greater insight on what He may be revealing to you. Remember, prayer is a two-way conversation, so be sure to listen to what God has to say!

RESOURCES

Here are a few helpful resources to help you get started with Daily Devotions. We pray God would give you an ever-increasing desire to know Him through His Word, the understanding to grasp His ways, and that He would bless you with new revelation of who He is every time you open the Word and sit at His feet.
