Mountains From Molehills

by Chris Kiriakos on May 30, 2025

Good morning! It’s Friday, May 30th, 2025.

It doesn’t take much—a loose pebble on the path, a sudden shift in the trail. Sometimes it’s the smallest things that knock us off balance. But even there, God is teaching us how to walk with wisdom.

Today's Reading:
Proverbs 13,14,15; Romans 11

Scripture

“The fear of the Lord provides wise instruction, and before honor comes humility.” (Proverbs 15:33)

Observation

Most people don’t trip over cliffs—they trip over curbs. It’s rarely the big things that take us out. It’s the little ones: a careless word, a sharp tone, a moment of pride. Molehills become mountains before we even realize we’ve started climbing.

But Proverbs gives us a gentle reminder: wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord—the kind of reverence that listens before speaking. Honor doesn’t come by pushing harder—it comes by going lower. Humility paves the way for clarity, for peace, for a life that leads us higher than we could’ve gone on our own.

Application

There are moments I can still feel the sting of an argument, but if you asked me what started it, I couldn’t tell you. It wasn’t the size of the problem—it was the size of my pride. I wanted to be right. I wanted to be heard. But looking back, most of those moments weren’t worth the energy I gave them. They were so small… and I made them so big.

Life’s not always about winning—it’s about walking wisely. Maybe the way forward isn’t by climbing over the issue, but by stepping back and asking, “What does humility look like right now?” That question alone changes things. It reminds me that God’s way is usually quieter, slower, and lower than my pride wants to go—but always better.

Fear the Lord—let Him have the final word. Let Him shrink the problem down to size and restore peace where pride tried to build a mountain.

It’s easy to make mountains from molehills. But it’s wisdom to make molehills out of mountains.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for being patient with me when I make big deals out of small things. Forgive me for letting pride take the lead. Help me take the humble road, to walk wisely, and to let Your voice be louder than mine. That kind of life is honor enough. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
