“More Than Silver or Gold”

by Aaron Cordeiro on October 14, 2025

Good morning! Today is October 14, 2025. Like a good shepherd, our Heavenly Father is more concerned with our deeper spiritual needs than our temporary ones. We see Peter and John demonstrate this truth on their way to the temple to pray, when they encounter a lame beggar at the gate called Beautiful. Let’s take a look and learn a lesson.

Today's Reading:
Nehemiah 11,12; Psalms 1; Acts 3

Scripture

“Then Peter said, ‘Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.’ Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God.” (Acts 3:6–8)

Observation

Divine healing and the power of God in your life are worth far more than wealth. Many people who have everything money can buy would give it all up in a moment to be healed or to have a loved one back. As 1 Timothy 6:10 reminds us, “For the love of money is the root of all evil; which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” More “stuff“ will never satisfy the soul.

Application

Being more financially stable would be wonderful—anyone would agree. But at what point does that pursuit begin to distract us from what we truly need: the Lord’s divine power and healing? Temporary relief may ease the moment, but it will never bring lasting peace to the soul. What Peter gave that day wasn’t gold or silver—it was something eternal.

Prayer

Dear Lord,

I look to You. It’s easy to focus on what I think I need rather than what I truly need—You, Lord. Thank You for reminding me that when resources run low, Your presence never does. Thank You for capturing our attention this morning and leading us back to what matters most.

Amen.
