Happy Friday! Today is March 11th, 2022. Did you know that one of the most devastating myths is the adage: “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.” Sometimes what you may have to say won’t be cushy and soft, but it may be eternal! Where will our youth or new believers find direction if prophets are silent? No, we don’t need any more “turn-or-burn” forecasters, but we do need to hear from heaven! Especially in days like the ones in which we are living. If you’re a parent, grandparent, or a veteran believer, you might be one of those modern-day “prophets” whom God has given a voice. The question is, will you be silent, or will you bring direction?

Today's Reading:
Deuteronomy 16,17,18; Psalms 38; Galatians 2
Scripture
“For those nations, which you shall dispossess, listen to those who practice witchcraft and to diviners, but as for you, the Lord your God has not allowed you to do so. The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your countrymen, you shall listen to him.” (Deuteronomy 18:14-15)
Observation
The people had a tendency to listen to any voice that would give direction. Knowing their tendency, God said He would raise prophets from among them. In this way, the people would at least have a choice whether or not to listen to God’s direction. However, this infers that if prophets do not speak, the people will have little choice but to listen to foreign voices.
“I will raise up a prophet from among their countrymen like you, and I will put My words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him” (Deut. 18:18).
Application
The Church needs prophetic leaders who hear God’s voice and speak the same. No, not in condemning tones, but in ways that inspire people toward the Kingdom principles!
In each of us is a prophetic bent, a call to speak what God is saying to people, beginning with our own families. However, what will those within our influence have to guide them if that prophetic call is ignored or silenced? What if our modern-day prophets (moms, dads, friends, brothers-in-Christ, and sisters-in-Christ) keep silent because they are afraid of push-back, criticism, or disagreement? If prophets, who know what God says, are afraid of the naysayers … if our prophets are silent, our next generation will adopt a view of life that is unbiblical … maybe not because they are evil, but because the prophets were silent.
Prayer
Dear Father, please help me to speak prophetically. I so need to hear Your voice daily, and as I apply it (Jeremiah 15:16), I will then be able to be a prophetic voice and a life of example: “But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort.” -1 Cor. 14:3
