It’s Friday, November 28th, 2025. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday! Have you ever noticed there are some things that never take the holidays off? Questions, for example. We all have them. Some keep us up at night, and maybe they’re as benign as: Who would win in a pickleball match, me or Pastor Wayne? Or maybe they’re more philosophical, like why “hyphenated” is non-hyphenated and “non-hyphenated” hyphenated? Or perhaps they’re more deeply personal: what will the next test result show?
We all have questions. And Jesus meets us right in the middle of them.
Today's Reading:
Matthew 28; 1 Thessalonians 1,2,3
Scripture
“When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me… And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’” (Matthew 28:17-18, 20)
Observation
The disciples are standing in front of the resurrected Jesus! And in His presence, some disciples doubted. They worshiped, but they also had questions. The Bible doesn’t criticize them for it; it simply acknowledges it.
Their worship was real. Their doubt was real.
And in response, Jesus went up to them. He doesn’t wait for them to figure everything out. He doesn’t insist their questions disappear. He moves closer toward them while they’re unsure and gives them the Great Commission.
Their uncertainty didn’t disqualify them. Jesus meets honest questions with His presence and His purpose.
Application
I also have some questions. There are things in my life I don’t fully understand. Areas that feel unclear. Places where I’m still waiting.
But having questions isn’t the absence of faith.
The disciples didn’t wait until everything made sense. They worshipped and doubted. They obeyed while some things were still unresolved. That’s faith. Faith is stepping forward with Jesus even when the path is littered with questions.
Instead of pretending I have all the answers, I want to bring my questions to Him. Not hide them. Because in the midst of my questions, the promise Jesus gives is still true: “I am with you always.”
Prayer
Lord, I don’t want to hide the places where I’m unsure. You know my questions before I ask them. Thank You that Your presence is greater than any doubt. Give me the courage to trust You with what I don’t yet understand and to take the next step even while I still have questions. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

P.S. I’m pretty sure I’d win…
