Good morning! It's Monday, November 11, 2024—a fresh start to a new week. I'm relieved the election results are finally in, marking the beginning of a new season. While I know some may feel disappointed, ultimately, God has the final say, not us. I mean, look at it this way: the idea that God would ordain a criminally minded, adulterous, wealthy man with evil in his heart to preside over a nation offends my sense of right and wrong. But He did—and that sinful man, by God’s grace, gave us the book of Psalms. If God can use David, He can use anyone. Today, David reminds us where our common ground is. Read on...
Today's Reading:
Psalms 122; 1 Corinthians 9,10,11
Scripture
"I rejoiced with those who said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.” … That is where the tribes go up— the tribes of the Lord— to praise the name of the Lord according to the statute given to Israel.” (Psalm 122:1,3)
Observation
Although there were twelve different tribes with unique leadership, individual land holdings, and sometimes opposing perspectives on the same issues, David declares that any differing viewpoints were to be intentionally set aside. They were to come together in the House of the Lord with one purpose and one voice—to raise the roof with praise! He is our common ground, not side issues, no theological variances, no prejudice, no differing ideologies.
Application
When we come together, we may have differing perspectives, but we press pause on all those things to worship Him in spirit and truth. As Paul said in Philippians 3:8, everything else is like 'dung' compared to knowing Jesus Christ and what He has written in His Word.
Regardless of which side of the aisle you’re on, I think we can all agree that our country has entered a moral quagmire, with abortion, drugs, crime, immoral behavior, vulgarity, and decadent teachings being introduced in our schools to innocent children, often without parental consent.
So, let’s pray together for revival. Pray against the schemes of the evil one. Let’s unite to worship Him with one voice—no bias or prejudgments.
Let’s join Heaven’s party, which happens when even one sinner comes to Christ and all the angels rejoice. That’s our common ground. That’s the party we belong to.
There is no other.
Prayer
Thank You, Father, that we serve an Audience of One, and that this commitment is what gathers us together as Your Bride. We have a season of favor before us; may we steward it well.
