Unoffendable Faith

by Wayne Cordeiro on February 27, 2025

It’s Thursday, February 27, 2025. We live in a society that is easily offended—where anyone with a different perspective is labeled a racist or an oppressor. Today, we learn from a foreign mother the secret to receiving a miracle by letting go of offense. Read on…

Today's Reading:
Numbers 21,22,23; Mark 6,7

Scripture

"The woman was a Gentile of the Syrophoenician race.  And she kept asking Jesus to cast the demon out of her daughter, but He was saying to her, “Let the children be satisfied first, for it is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”  But she answered and said to Him, “Yes Lord but even the dogs under the table feed on the children’s crumbs.”  And He said to her, “Because of this answer, go; the demon has gone out of your daughter.”  (Mark 7:26-29)

Observation

This would have sparked litigation—or at least a feud—today! But here, we find the case of an un-offendable woman. Because of her ethnicity, she was referred to as a “dog.” In today’s overly sensitive society, it would be labeled hate speech. But hang on… this mother was un-offendable! She had bigger concerns.

Instead of taking offense, she humbled herself and asked again—gracefully and without resentment. And to that, Jesus marveled. It was her response that activated a divine miracle, and instantly, the demon was cast out. Her reply triggered a Kingdom principle, setting a miracle in motion!

Application

It seems that many of today’s “causes” and protests are fueled by offenses—whether real or perceived. I understand that some causes are legitimate and just. However, I wonder how many are simply offenses I could have overlooked in exchange for a miracle.

This Syrophoenician mother needed a miracle more than she needed esteem. She needed a miracle more than political correctness.

What do you need more? You can have only one or the other.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, I am learning to let go of my “right” to hold onto an offense so I can experience a miracle. I choose to embrace what You have for me rather than suffer the consequences of refusing. I surrender my rights and trade them for Your miraculous promises!
