Two Camps

by Wayne Cordeiro on September 25, 2024

Happy Wednesday! It’s September 25, 2024. With the elections coming soon, we, as God’s people, are reminded of our influence on the nation into which we were sent. Be sure to vote! You can check your registration status by clicking here. See things as Jesus would see them, then make it known! As Ambassadors, we must honor the holiness of God so His will would be done “on earth as it is in heaven.” How do you see things? Read on …

Today's Reading:

Ezra 2,3; Luke 8

Scripture

“Now they were all weeping and lamenting for her; but He said, ‘Stop weeping, for she has not died, but is asleep.’ And they began laughing at Him, knowing that she had died.” (Luke 8:52-53)

Observation

The story of the raising of Jairus' daughter intrigues me. The mourners had already gathered like vultures around a fresh carcass, but Jesus saw things as they could be, rather than as they appeared. He said, "The child is only sleeping." Jesus saw life and extended hope. Mourners and vultures rely on how things appear in the moment; when you speak hope, they laugh.

Application

There will be two camps we fall into:

  • Those who see problems or those who see potential
  • Those who call for victory or those who call for vultures
  • Those who are patient or those who are pallbearers
  • Those who choose life or those who just laugh

Choose your camp wisely! Your faith, destiny, and purpose will be determined by it.
It’s always easier to go with the current than to follow the Call. We fall into the trap of thinking that the way we see something is the right way. Then, we seek confirmation from others to soothe our conscience.

However, I have one job today: to see things the way Jesus sees them, not how they appear.

My mind can be like an accountant of a company who, because he writes the checks, thinks he owns the store. My mind can take into account what it perceives, but it doesn’t run the ship. It is under the command of the Holy Spirit.

Prayer

Father, may I be strengthened in my spirit and take responsibility for bringing every thought 'into the obedience of Christ.' I will see things as You see them, even when surrounded by vultures and deafened by the crowd. I will choose to extend hope and recognize untapped potential because I am convinced that there is still more of heaven to be gained!
