Happy Monday! It is September 22, 2024. Yesterday was the memorial celebration of the life of Charlie Kirk, a modern-day prophet. He heralded truth on college campuses, where much untruth has been spread and has caused great confusion. Now it’s time for us to take up the baton of fearless Ambassadors of Christ, standing in support of the truth. Here is where we find the source of fearless strength. Read on…
Today's Reading:
Daniel 9,10; Psalms 123; Luke 5
Scripture
“So, he said, “Do you know why I have come to you? Soon I will return to fight against the prince of Persia, and when I go, the prince of Greece will come; but first I will tell you what is written in the Book of Truth.” (Daniel 10:21-22)
Observation
Daniel had been fasting and praying for three weeks; his strength gave out, and his spirit was heavy. An angel arrives and drops the backstage news: spiritual powers were contesting his prayers. The “prince of Persia,” and later “the prince of Greece,” were opposing the ways of God.
But before the angel launches into warfare strategy, he speaks of a critical fact: “First, I will tell you what is written in the Book of Truth.” In other words, before you fight, you must know and be convinced of the truths in the Word of God!
Application
I am realizing that the only authority we have is the Word of God. It is knowing “what is written” that will be our greatest weapon against darkness and against logical-sounding reasonings being proffered in the media and in colleges. Before spiritual warfare can be victorious, we must know the Book of Truth.
We can no longer be people who simply believe the Bible; we must know it well enough to explain and defend it. That means regular Bible intake, memorized truth, Gospel-shaped thinking, and training the next generation to answer the questions the world throws at them. Feed the sheep truthfully and faithfully — not with opinions dressed in Scripture, but with the clear, life-giving truths of God.
Prayer
Father, truth is under attack. Your Word not only contains truth, it defines truth. Help us to be fearless purveyors of truth, and not just of perspectives or ideologies. We, like John the Baptist, are messengers and couriers of the truths of Your Word—period! Teach me Your ways and guide me in Your paths.
