Oxygen to My Soul

by Wayne Cordeiro on June 27, 2022

Happy Monday! It's June 27th, 2022. Happy birthday, Pastor Aaron! He turned 42! That's getting up there! By the way, our summer camps are in full swing. I've never seen so many young people on fire for God! Today we are reminded that there's only one book in the universe God promises to inspire. Read on …

Today's Reading:

2 Kings 13,14; 2 Chronicles 25; 2 Timothy 3

Scripture

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Observation

God-breathed! Think about that for a bit. A person might go only a few minutes without oxygen before he collapses. Here, Paul the apostle speaks about oxygen for our souls, which is equally important. The Bible is “God-breathed.” God promises to infuse His words with divine oxygen that enlivens our souls! It brings life, promotes healing, and gives our hearts energy! And remember …. God is no respecter of persons, so the very wisdom He gave Solomon, He will be pleased to give to us as well. He will breathe into us the leadership skills of Moses or the insights He gave David when we read the books they penned. That’s what it means when He says His Word is “God-breathed!”

Application

Take time to bring oxygen to your soul today by taking in the Word of God. Please read it and inhale deeply. Our souls need to breathe freely. I memorized 2 Tim. 3:16-17 many years ago, and it has always inspired me toward the Word of God on a daily basis. My life needs to breathe in order to stay healthy, and the Word of God is oxygen to my heart and healing to my soul.

Prayer

Dear Father, thank you for the Bible and for infusing Your words with life, wisdom, and everything we need to be equipped to do Your work. Please help me prioritize my daily devotions so my soul can breathe!
