Made to Excel

by Wayne Cordeiro on December 04, 2024

Happy Wednesday! It’s December 4th, 2024. It’s a bit cold here, but we enter this day with warm hearts. Why? Because we have been chosen. Just think about how those selected to be part of the President’s Cabinet must feel. Each one likely feels incredibly special right now, even though they face a gargantuan task ahead. Some departments will require complete reconstruction, while others just a deep cleaning. Yet, each of these newly chosen leaders is ready and willing because they were made to excel—and so were you! Read on...

Today's Reading:

Ephesians 1,2,3,4

Scripture

“For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight …” (Ephesians 1:4)

Observation

Before the foundation of the world, He chose us to be in Christ—holy and blameless! Hand-picked, screened, vetted by the Holy Spirit, and specially selected.

We weren’t just born into this by filial relationship; we were chosen.
God Himself made that choice and placed us in this moment, in our family, in our marriage, and in the church we belong to.

Why?
It’s our responsibility to find out!

Application

He chose me! Jesus is the Initiator, and the Holy Spirit the Interviewer. Like Jeremiah, we were vetted before time began. This sacred choice is revealed in Jeremiah 1, where God says, “Before you were born, while you were still in your mother’s womb, I knew you. I called you by name and appointed you to be a prophet to the nations.”

The question isn’t whether we’ve been chosen—the question is how well we will fulfill the assignments given to us.

I think about the past President’s Cabinet over the last four years. Some may end their terms with regret, having accomplished very little, squandering the opportunities they were entrusted with. They sought a position rather than a purpose.

My choice has been to dedicate my whole life to excelling in every area of what God has assigned me—and I know I still have much work to do!

As I plan for the year ahead, I’ll set goals and objectives that keep me balanced, healthy, and on the cutting edge of serving God’s purposes in my generation.

Prayer

Father, I am so grateful that You chose me. I will never take that for granted.
