Happy Wednesday, October 29th, 2025. This past Sunday, Pastor Aaron kicked off our Focus series — and the whole theme is that whatever you focus on, you’ll be drawn toward. If you didn’t get a chance to hear his message, you can watch it here.
There was one verse he shared that’s still echoing in my heart: “He also loved cursing, so it came to him; And he did not delight in blessing, so it was far from him.” (Psalm 109:17)
In other words — what you look for, you’ll find.
Today's Reading:
Job 20; Mark 3,4
Scripture
“Some of them were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath.” (Mark 3:2)
Observation
The Pharisees were looking for offense.
You ever notice that when someone is determined to be offended… they don’t need much to work with? Jesus could be healing a man’s withered hand — and these guys are in the corner like: “Mmm… but what day is it?”
They weren’t looking to learn.
They weren’t looking for a miracle.
They were looking for offense… and they found it.
Application
I need to pay attention to what I’m looking for. Because the same Jesus who healed a hand right in front of them could be working right in front of me — and I could miss it if I’m busy scanning for something to be annoyed about.
If I look for flaws, I’ll find flaws.
If I look for disappointments, I’ll find plenty.
If I look for reasons to love, forgive, and celebrate — I’ll find those too.
Am I looking for offense… or am I looking for Jesus?
Prayer
Lord, before I look for anything else, tune my eyes to look for You. I don’t want to go through life searching for reasons to be offended. I want to see Your grace at work. Teach me to assume the best, to respond gently, and to look for what You’re doing instead of what others are doing wrong. Change the lens I’m looking through. Amen.
