Happy Friday! It’s July 5, 2024. Today, we are reminded of a perfect God who cares for imperfect people. He is just, but He also gives grace to those who turn to Him. He is not aloof; He knows exactly what we are hurting over. He knows our battles, broken dreams, and how we suffer over shattered pasts that we cannot change. Read on...
Today's Reading:
2 Kings 15,16; Hosea 1; Hebrews 1
Scripture
“For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.” (Hebrews 2:18)
Observation
Jesus was sinless, so He didn’t die for His own sins. He took upon Himself our sins—and not only ours, but everyone’s sins. When Jesus died, He took upon Himself the sins of the whole world—past, present, and future! He felt every suffering, the regret of every failure, the pain of every broken relationship and shattered dream. He felt the loneliness and every struggle, and He experienced the temptation that accompanied each one.
He knows the pain of a mother who was robbed of her children. He felt the sorrow of a man who lost his job. He felt the hurt of a woman raped, a man rejected by his own family, and the struggle of a wife with an abusive husband.
Application
We have such a compassionate God, a Lord who understands everything we feel, every tear we cry, and every sorrow we carry. He knew that we’d encounter these temptations and struggles. "He knows what we need before we even ask!" (Mt. 6:9).
However, even though God has already provided the solution and the answer, He understands the struggle I go through to reach them. He walks with me through the process until I come out the other side looking more like Him! He will always be there to hold my hand and "come to the aid of those who are tempted."
What a great God I serve! Each time I read about His heart, I love Him more!
Prayer
Thank You, Lord Jesus, for Your compassion. You understand everything I go through and you care! Thank you for Your empathy and grace. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!
