Game Changer

by Wayne Cordeiro on December 27, 2024

Good morning! Today is Friday, December 27, 2024. Have you ever been to a game where it seemed like all was lost? People started leaving the stadium early to beat the traffic. After all, the outcome seemed certain—the writing was on the wall. Why stick around to watch the inevitable collapse? But later, those who left early cringe when they hear from friends who stayed that the game turned around in the final moments. Instead of losing, the team won! Jesus is like that—He’s the ultimate game-changer. Don’t leave too soon. He’s not finished yet. Read on...

Today's Reading:

Revelation 1,2,3,4

Scripture

“When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: ‘Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.’” (Revelation 1:17-18)

Observation

Jesus reveals an aspect of His nature that fills me with great hope. He designed me to be conformed to His image, and though I may not fully reflect that now, I will not give up contending for it. Like the apostle John, who described himself as fallen and as though dead, the story wasn’t over.

Jesus declared, “I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore!”

Application

Just because something seems dead doesn’t mean the story is over! He holds the keys. He can open what was once closed and set free what hell claims is captive. Satan doesn’t control the gates, and he doesn’t command the door—Jesus does!

The devil will try to convince us, “It’s over!” Circumstances may block your view of hope. People may discourage, dishearten, and drain you. Even my broken expectations don’t mean God has broken His promises. His promises remain true, and His plans are still waiting for me.

My only true defeat would be quitting. It’s my attitude that could disqualify me. Yes, He might readjust my expectations or refine my best-laid plans, but it’s not over.

My mistake? I leave the stadium too early.

Prayer

Lord, help me to pattern my life after Yours. Keep me from leaving too early because You’re not finished with us yet. Just as You turned the tables at the Jerusalem temple, You are still at work, bringing transformation and renewal.

Remind me to stay in my seat and trust Your timing, because the ending will be a game-changer!

“But he who endures to the end shall be saved.” – Matthew 24:13
