Foundations

by Wayne Cordeiro on November 20, 2024

Happy Wednesday! Today is November 20th, 2024. Ever watched a video of a building being intentionally collapsed to make room for another structure? A construction company strategically places explosives at key points in the foundation, knowing that if the foundation is compromised, the entire building will collapse.

Psalm 11:3 reminds us of a critical principle: "If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?" Today, let’s talk about foundations. Do you know what yours are? Read on…

Today's Reading:

Matthew 5,6,7

Scripture

“Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.  The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”  (Matthew 7:24-25)

Observation

Our foundations are what will be tested because, when they are compromised, everything built upon them falls. We must build solid foundations in our:

  • Marriage
  • Faith and devotion
  • Moral purity
  • Faithfulness
  • Condition of our soul

These must be unshakable and biblically founded. Everything else will stand or fall based on these foundations.

If we compromise our moral purity, we end up with a sexually impure society. If we compromise the family, we lose the structure that undergirds our society.

Application

I must remain strong and steadfast in my foundations. These are what will be tested. The smaller things may fall away, and I can still stand, but if my foundations crumble, I am lost. I must revisit my foundations, ensure their strength, and maintain their condition!

Prayer

Father, restore Your Church to the foundations upon which we were created, and keep us close to You because our foundations will be tested!
