Doubt Your Doubts Before You Doubt Your Faith

by Aaron Cordeiro on September 18, 2025

Happy Thursday! Today is September 18, 2025. Have you ever felt like you’re aging out or becoming irrelevant—whether with your kids, with technological advances, at work, or even at church? God’s promises go beyond time and context, but the big question remains: How can you be sure? Read on…

Today's Reading:
Ezekiel 45,46; Luke 1

Scripture

“Zechariah asked the angel, ‘How can I be sure of this? I am an old man and my wife is well along in years.’ The angel said to him, ‘I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to tell you this good news. And now you will be silent and not able to speak until the day this happens, because you did not believe my words, which will come true at their appointed time.’” (Luke 1:18-20)

Observation

These verses describe Zechariah’s encounter with the angel Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God. Gabriel brought the good news that they would have a son, John, who would prepare the way for Jesus the Messiah.

Zechariah’s “How can I be sure?” moment was birthed out of their old age. His unbelief silenced him until Gabriel’s words came true.

Application

What doubts do you wrestle with—age, feeling unqualified, unworthy, or maybe too young? So often, we silence ourselves with unbelief. We silence our call. We silence the gifts God has placed within us. If we don’t believe God’s Word, we won’t live accordingly.

But what the Lord has spoken will surely come to pass. The real question is: will we doubt our doubts, or will we doubt our faith? Let’s refuse to be silenced by unbelief and instead raise the tide of our faith today.

Prayer

Dear Lord,

Thank You for Your Word that is truth. Forgive me for the moments I doubt how You will work out situations that seem difficult or impossible. I want my life to be a voice that proclaims how good and faithful You are. Amen.
